Growing results for the Italian auction house, which is confirmed among the leading players in the sector with 68 auctions, more than 11,000 lots sold, and excellent performances in the Design, Antiques, Jewelry, and Modern and Contemporary Art departments.

The first half of 2025 closes with excellent results for Cambi Auction House, which records a total turnover of 21,025,000 euros, with 68 auctions held (of which 39 online) and more than 11,000 lots sold. A figure that confirms the auction house’s solidity and ability to adapt to the dynamics of an ever-changing market.

Standing out in the first half of the year is the Design Department, which, with a turnover of 3.8 million euros, confirmed its position at the top of the house’s departments. Excellent performances also for the departments of Jewelry and Precious (2.4 million), Modern and Contemporary Art (2.1 million) and Wrist and Pocket Watches (1.5 million), all of which are in line with expectations and growing steadily.

Pair of parade vases with lids. Paris, Sèvres Manufacture (attribution), 1780-1790. Sold for €466,100 (estimate: €6,000.00 / 8,000.00).

Particularly significant is the result of the Antiques Department, which reached €2.2 million thanks, in particular, to the success of the first Milan edition of the new “Fine Art Selection” auction, dedicated to Antique Art. An appointment that, with only 132 lots and over 1,800,000 euros in adjudications, marked an important milestone for Cambi, consolidating the role of the Milan office in the antique segment as well.

Gerardo Dottori, Flight over the Ocean, 1929. Sold €250,100 (estimate: €150,000.00 / 200,000.00)

The six-month period also saw stable international participation, with 34 percent of the total value of adjudications coming from foreign buyers, particularly from the United States, France, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Rolex, Daytona “Paul Newman” ref. 6241 steel, two-tone “Panda” dial, bakelite bezel circa 1968. Sold for €221,100 (estimate: €150,000.00 / 200,000.00)

“We are very pleased with the results obtained in the first half of 2025, which confirm the solidity and long-term vision of Cambi Casa d’Aste,” comments Matteo Cambi, President of Cambi Casa d’Aste. “We look forward to the second half of the year with enthusiasm, ready to continue on this path of growth and consolidation through ambitious projects, new synergies and a calendar full of events that will be able to enhance, once again, art in all its forms.”

Adolf Loos, Rare floor pendulum clock. Sold at €125,100 (estimate: €30,000.00 / 40,000.00) and Pair of Cachepots in polychrome porcelain with sky-blue ground and peach-branch decoration, China, Qing Dynasty, Yazhai mark (1874-1876), last quarter of the 19th century. Sold for €102,600 (estimate: €40,000.00 / 60,000.00).

Among the top lots of the semester were a pair of parade vases from the Sèvres Manufacture (sold for €466,100), a painting by Gerardo Dottori (€250,100), a Rolex Daytona “Paul Newman” (€221,100), and a 6.12 ct brilliant-cut diamond (€131,350).

Brilliant-cut diamond of ct 6.12, F color, VS1 internal characteristics, zero fluorescence. Sold at €131,350 (estimate:€100,000.00 / 150,000.00) and Jusepe De Ribera known as lo Spagnoletto, Manly Portrait. Sold for €137,000 (estimate: €30,000.00 / 60,000.00)

A look at the second half of 2025

In addition to the usual appointments, we are pleased to anticipate some new additions to the fall calendar. In light of the excellent results achieved by the Design department in the first half of the year and in response to the growing market attention to the sector, Cambi will introduce a new appointment: Design Properties, an additional auction entirely devoted to design, scheduled for September.

For Oriental Art, October will mark the return of the prestigious Fine Asian Works of Art auction, which this year will be distinguished by the presence of an extraordinary collection of corals, rare and of the highest value.

Also confirmed is the fall edition of Dimore Italiane, which will present a selection of furniture, paintings and objets d’art from four prestigious residences between Lombardy and Tuscany, offering a fascinating insight into Italian collecting.

Finally, great expectations also for the Numismatics auction, which promises to be particularly rich thanks to the inclusion in the catalog of some superb collections of coins and medals. We also report an important private assignment for the Ancient Art department, which will enrich the proposal with works of significant historical and artistic value.

With an increasingly loyal customer base and a strategy based on expertise, digitization, innovation and above all a strong diversification of auctions and proposals, Cambi Auction House looks forward to the upcoming sales in the second half of 2025, continuing to enhance the value of cultural heritage.
