Helmut Newton: between Provocation and Innovation premium
On Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, on the same day as the Modern and Contemporary Art auction, the Photography catalog will go up for auction at 2 p.m. The catalog includes works spanning history and major international events, from the late 19th century to iconic photographs of the 20th century to works by contemporary artists. Among them all, note lot 38, Elsa Peretti as a Bunny by Helmut Newton (estimate: €15,000 - €20,000), an iconic 1994 shot printed in silver salt gelatin, with the photographer's signature and dedication in pencil.

The auction opens, then, with the proposal of jewelry and bijoux that belonged to journalist and fashion critic Giusi Ferrè: objects that can tell the story of her flair and taste in combining signatures - such as Bulgari (lot 12 estimate 400 - 600) and Pomellato (lot 10 estimate 1,000 - 1,500) - with the creations of designers, including Gai Mattiolo (lot 1 estimate 3,000 - 4,000), to fancy bijoux (lot 37 estimate 200 - 300) in an interesting combination, never banal.
