Swarovski: Crystalized Elegance

Through Dec. 6, 2023, the “Swarovski: Crystalized Elegance” auction is online, featuring a major crystal collection that includes numerous limited-edition and hard-to-find specimens signed by the prominent historic jewelry and accessories brand.

Founded in 1895, by Daniel Swarovski, inventor of the special crystal, today, Swarovski is run by the fifth generation of family members. Swarovski produces products such as glass sculptures, miniatures, jewelry, rhinestones, home decorations and chandeliers. All sculptures are marked with the famous swan logo.

Swarovski glass is produced by melting a mixture of quartz sand, soda ash, potassium and other ingredients at high temperatures. Lead, usually used in the form of tri-lead tetroxide, is no longer used, and all Swarovski Crystal glass produced since 2012 is lead-free. To create crystal glass that allows light to refract in a rainbow spectrum, Swarovski coats some of its products with special metallic chemical coatings. Swarovski has developed a unique technology that preserves the brilliance and brightness of the crystals without the use of lead dioxide.

Swarovski’s figurines are collectible. The first figurine produced by the brand was a stylized mouse. A smaller version of this mouse, now called a “replica mouse,” is still sold to this day.
