The Luigi Profenna Collection

Following the success of Cambi Auction House’s Live auction of Modern and Contemporary Art last July 2023, the modern and contemporary art collection of fine collector Luigi Profenna returns to surprise with a selection of unique works. A timed auction, viewable and available on Cambi’s website and app from Oct. 24 to Nov. 8, 2023.

The Live auction of Modern and Contemporary Art, one of the auction house’s most prestigious and eagerly awaited events, which took place last July 2023 at its Milan headquarters on Via san marco recorded numerous auction records and top lots.

Among the most important collections and consignments at the auction, the personal collection of modern and contemporary artworks of Dr. Luigi Profenna, a great collector and art connoisseur, stood out.

There were several lots from the Profenna collection that achieved auction records. These included the iconic work “Niente da vedere niente da nascondere” by Alighiero Boetti (1940 Turin – 1994 Rome) from 1989, an embroidery on fabric measuring 26.5×25.5 cm. The work went for 87,600 euros with an initial estimate of 40,000 to 60,000 euros.

Another top lot, a magnificent oil on canvas “Interior” by Salvo (1947 Leonforte – 2015 Turin) cm 50×60 sold for 45,100 euros with a starting estimate of 18,000 to 22,000 euros.

The timed auction dedicated to the Profenna Collection features a rich catalog of previously unpublished works. Among the authors are Marco Tirelli, Bengt Lindstrom, Antonio Corpora, Gino Severini, Bruno Ceccobelli, Mimmo Rotella, Mimmo Germanà but also Carla Accardi, Bruno Caruso, Piero Dorazio, Salvador Dali’ and many others.

Gino Severini, Untitled, Estimate: 1,200 – 1,500 €.

Bruno Ceccobelli, In friendship every thought is born in silence, Estimate: 800 – 1,200 €

Mimmo Germanà, Untitled, 1989, Estimate: 500 – 700 €.

Mimmo Rotella, Marilyn, Estimate: 300 – 400 €.

Bruno Caruso, Sente poco ma parla chiaro, 1980, Stima: 300 – 400 €

Un’altra importante selezione proveniente dalla Collezione Profenna sarà presente nel catalogo dell’asta Live di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in programma per il 19 dicembre 2023 presso la sede di via San Marco 22 a Milano.
